## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution recognizes February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the state capitol, honoring the Lowndes County leadership development program.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia House of Representatives rather than a change to state law. It recognizes February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the state capitol, marking a visit by participants in Leadership Lowndes, a community leadership program based in Lowndes County that started in 1988.
The resolution describes the program's history, including its youth branch, Leadership Lowndes Youth, and the training, retreats, and service projects both programs involve. It directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Leadership Lowndes as a keepsake of the honor.

### What it does

- Formally designates February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the Georgia state capitol.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Leadership Lowndes.
- Creates no new law, funding, or regulatory requirement; it is a ceremonial recognition only.

### Who it affects

Leadership Lowndes, its adult and youth program participants, and its alumni, who together have completed the program since 1988. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is also directly tasked with preparing the commemorative copy.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal or regulatory effect on Georgians statewide. Its practical significance is limited to a public, formal acknowledgment of a Lowndes County civic leadership program during its visit to the capitol.

### Key provisions

- The resolution recites Leadership Lowndes' history, founded in 1988, and notes nearly 900 graduates and over 10,000 service hours since 1989.
- It describes the adult program's structure, including a January retreat, a February capitol trip, and program days from March to November.
- It notes the founding of Leadership Lowndes Youth in 1998 and describes its retreat, program days, graduation, and service project components.
- The resolving clause formally designates February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the state capitol.
- A further resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide a copy of the resolution to Leadership Lowndes.
