House Resolution 152 By: Representatives LaHood of the 175th, Corbett of the 174th, Burchett of the 176th, and Sharper of the 177th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Leadership Lowndes was established in 1988 to develop and connect existing and emerging leaders, exposing them to local challenges and opportunities while fostering long-term solutions to community needs; and WHEREAS, since the first graduating class in 1989, nearly 900 leaders have completed the program, contributing over 10,000 service hours to local agencies and organizations; and WHEREAS, the program includes a two-day retreat in January, a two-day trip to the state capitol in February, and full program days from March to November wherein participants engage with experts on key community and state issues as well as complete service projects in small groups; and WHEREAS, Leadership Lowndes upholds core values such as knowledge of regional issues, community stewardship, integrity, diversity, inclusion, inter-generational leadership, and a passion for action; and WHEREAS, Leadership Lowndes Youth, founded in 1998 as the Lowndes Youth Leadership League, helps students develop community awareness, leadership skills, and connections with peers and adult leaders; and WHEREAS, the youth program includes a class reception, a weekend retreat, three program days, a graduation ceremony, and a required community service project, with applications solicited each fall from local schools; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of this extraordinary organization be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 6, 2025, as Leadership Lowndes Day at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Leadership Lowndes.
