House Resolution 1544 By: Representatives Williams of the 168th, Prince of the 132nd, Myles of the 126th, Howard of the 129th, and Newton of the 127th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Neal Weintraub, M.D.; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Neal Weintraub, M.D., a native of Albany, Georgia, is a distinguished academic and cardiovascular researcher ; and WHEREAS, he serves as the Georgia Research Alliance Herbert S. Kupperman, M.D., Eminent Scholar Distinguished University Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine and the Medical College of Georgia, and as associate director of the Vascular Biology Center, where leads and mentors to faculty, trainees, and research teams; and WHEREAS, he earned his medical degree from Tulane University, completed his internal medicine training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Emory University, and further specialized through a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases; and WHEREAS, Dr. Weintraub has made a profound impact on medical education, teaching more than 225 courses for future physicians and physicians-scientist, and contributing to more than 250 peer-reviewed publications that have advanced understanding of cardiometabolic disease; and WHEREAS, he helped launch the cardio-oncology program at the Medical College of Georgia, funded by the American Heart Association, to investigate the bidirectional relationship between cardiovascular disease and cancer, strengthening the medical school and its teaching hospital's leadership in the field; and WHEREAS, Dr. Weintraub's scientific accomplishments have been sustained by a long and successful history of funding from the National Institutes of Health, including multiple federally supported research grants that have advanced fundamental and translational discoveries in cardiovascular medicine; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Neal Weintraub, M.D., and extend best wishes for continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Neal Weintraub, M.D.
