A RESOLUTION

Honoring and commending Dr. LaWanda Folami for her outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the citizens of Clayton County and the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. LaWanda Folami is a dedicated humanitarian, servant leader, and social justice advocate whose life's work has been rooted in strengthening families and empowering communities throughout Forest Park and Clayton County, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, for more than 30 years, Dr. Folami has remained a steadfast pillar of service, compassion, and leadership, impacting countless lives through advocacy, mentorship, and civic engagement; and

WHEREAS, as Vice Chair of the Atlanta Regional Commission Aging Committee, Dr. Folami has championed funding, policy development, and vital resources to enhance the quality of life for seniors throughout Clayton County, ensuring that aging residents are supported with dignity and respect; and

WHEREAS, she has worked closely with the Clayton County Housing Authority as an affordable housing advocate, assisting elderly residents with winterization of their homes, access to transportation for medical appointments, and nutritional support through volunteer service with Meals on Wheels; and

WHEREAS, through partnerships with senior centers, including the Forest Park Senior Center, Dr. Folami has organized and supported community initiatives such as Thanksgiving outreach events providing turkeys and essential holiday items to seniors in need; and

WHEREAS, her commitment to service extends beyond senior advocacy to supporting homeless individuals, single parents, and youth as a nurturer, caregiver, and trusted community resource liaison, contributing to the launch and growth of educational, charitable, philanthropic, and cultural initiatives that uplift underserved populations; and

WHEREAS, an unwavering activist for justice and civic engagement, Dr. Folami has served as an advisor to the Black Women's Roundtable "Get Out the Vote" initiative and has provided guidance to former and current elected officials, demonstrating her commitment to civic participation and democratic engagement; and

WHEREAS, her advocacy spans civil rights, equal opportunity, entrepreneurship, arts and culture, education, politics, law, and athletics-reflecting her belief that strong communities require involvement across every sector; and

WHEREAS, known for her compassion and inclusivity, Dr. Folami is committed to serving individuals of every race, class, and ethnic background, guided by her powerful principle, "you can't beat marching feets," a testament to her belief in persistence, unity, and collective action; and

WHEREAS, Dr. LaWanda Folami's legacy is defined not only by her public accomplishments but by the countless personal lives she has touched through encouragement, advocacy, and unwavering service, continuing to serve as a vital economic, cultural, and social force within the City of Forest Park, Clayton County, and the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor and commend Dr. LaWanda Folami for her exemplary leadership, tireless advocacy, and decades of faithful service to the citizens of Clayton County and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. LaWanda Folami.
