A RESOLUTION
Honoring and recognizing Chief Kevin Roberts for his distinguished service to Clayton
County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Chief Kevin Roberts is a career law enforcement professional with 32 years of
dedicated public safety service, including 28 years of exemplary service with the Clayton
County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Chief Roberts began his career with the Clayton County Police Department in
January 1998 as a patrol officer and steadily progressed through the ranks, serving in various
leadership and operational capacities before being appointed as Clayton County's Chief of
Police in January 2018; and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Chief Roberts has demonstrated extraordinary devotion
to duty, a meticulous commitment to excellence, and an unwavering dedication to the highest
standards of law enforcement professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Chief Roberts is widely regarded by citizens, community leaders, local
government officials, and state officials as a man of unquestioned integrity, humility, and
character, who serves not only as a public servant but as a trusted leader grounded in
compassion and service; and
WHEREAS, during the challenges brought on by the Great Recession, Chief Roberts played
a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between the Clayton County Police Department and
neighborhood communities, helping to establish, develop, and sustain long-term partnerships
built on transparency, accountability, and open dialogue; and
WHEREAS, for more than 16 years, Chief Roberts has remained approachable, accessible,
responsive, and willing to engage in meaningful dialogue with residents-seeking feedback
whether positive or negative-and addressing complex and difficult issues with honesty and
thoughtful leadership; and
WHEREAS, Chief Roberts has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to enhancing
public health, safety, and quality of life for all Clayton County citizens by ensuring that the
Clayton County Police Department remains engaged, community-focused, and proactive in
its initiatives; and
WHEREAS, born in Atlanta, Georgia, Chief Roberts is a graduate of Towers High School
in Decatur, Georgia, served in the United States Navy through the Naval Reserve Officer
Training Corps while attending Morehouse College, and began his public safety career as a
Corrections Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections at Lee Arrendale State
Prison and the Georgia Alcovy Diversion Center from December 1993 through November
1997; and
WHEREAS, Chief Roberts furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree from Shorter University and a Master's degree in Public Safety
Administration from Columbus State University, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to
professional growth and leadership development; and
WHEREAS, his leadership exemplifies integrity, compassion, accountability, and an
unwavering pursuit of excellence in service to Clayton County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend and honor Chief Kevin Roberts for his outstanding
service, leadership, and steadfast dedication to the citizens of Clayton County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Chief Kevin Roberts is recognized as a model law
enforcement professional whose career reflects the highest principles of public service,
community partnership, and commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Chief
Kevin Roberts.
