A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Schyler McGuire; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Schyler McGuire, a 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante, is the
accomplished daughter of Zirie Benton and Harold McGuire; and
WHEREAS, through her participation in the 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante
program, Schyler has been supported and encouraged to grow in strength, character,
confidence, and purpose; and
WHEREAS, she is a senior at Newton College and Career Academy, where she embodies
artistry, leadership, and a strong faith in God; and
WHEREAS, as a rising creative voice, Schyler is a skilled bass guitarist and a young visual
artist with published works derived from her original Afrocentric-themed creations; and
WHEREAS, she is an active member of the NexGen Youth Ministry at Springfield Baptist
Church, mentors at local elementary schools, and is passionate about helping her community
grow spiritually and emotionally through compassion and service; and
WHEREAS, each debutante completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service and
maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.9; and
WHEREAS, throughout the program, the young women participated in transformative
workshops and experiences designed to challenge and inspire them; and
WHEREAS, a defining moment of the season was their visit to the Georgia State Capitol,
where they were recognized during the legislative session and had the opportunity to speak
on issues important to them–demonstrating that their voices matter and their purpose is
already in action; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding young woman be
appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Schyler McGuire for her unwavering
commitment to service, leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Schyler McGuire.
