House Resolution 157

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating and commending Nellie Klodner; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Nellie Klodner received the 2024 Inclusion Award from Georgia Tech's K-12 InVenture Prize State Finals at the Raytheon Technologies Invention Convention United States Nationals; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Klodner is a diligent, hard-working student from Panter Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, with the help of Anna Borsh, Ms. Klodner created the app "Grocery Eyes," which helps visually impaired people navigate through the grocery store more easily; and

WHEREAS, both Ms. Klodner and Ms. Borsh created the app in the hope that visually impaired people can gain more independence through using the app's navigation, microphone, and camera features to help locate items; and

WHEREAS, prior to winning the 2024 Inclusion Award at the United States Nationals, "Grocery Eyes" won the same title from the state level competition where each student won an Amazon tablet; and

WHEREAS, as first prize winners at the United States Nationals, each student received a trophy, certificate, and $1,000.00 prize; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable young student has personified the selfless dedication, mental agility, verbal adroitness, and personal maturity necessary for such an honorary award; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary student be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Nellie Klodner upon receiving the 2024 Inclusion Award from Georgia Tech's K-12 InVenture Prize State and National Finals, commend her for her many outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of Georgia, and extend best wishes for continued growth, development, and success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Nellie Klodner.
