A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Aziah De'Souza; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Aziah De'Souza, a 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante, is the
accomplished daughter of Mr. Liston De'Souza and Ms. Shareka Garrett; and
WHEREAS, through her participation in the 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante
program, Aziah has been supported and encouraged to grow in strength, character,
confidence, and purpose; and
WHEREAS, she is an 11th grade student attending East Side High School, where she shines
both academically and athletically; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated cheerleader, Aziah balances her commitment to her team with an
impressive academic record; and
WHEREAS, she has been a member of the STEM Program at Newton County College and
Career Academy and the ALANAS program at Newton High School since her freshman
year, as well as attends Georgia State University through its dual enrollment program; and
WHEREAS, each debutante completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service and
maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.9; and
WHEREAS, throughout the program, the young women participated in transformative
workshops and experiences designed to challenge and inspire them; and
WHEREAS, a defining moment of the season was their visit to the Georgia State Capitol,
where they were recognized during the legislative session and had the opportunity to speak
on issues important to them–demonstrating that their voices matter and their purpose is
already in action; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding young woman be
appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Aziah De'Souza for her unwavering
commitment to service, leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Aziah
De'Souza.
