House Resolution 1578 By: Representatives Yearta of the 152nd, Greene of the 154th, Cheokas of the 151st, Parsons of the 44th, and Smith of the 138th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life of Mr. Herman Douglas Everett and dedicating a road in his memory; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Mr. Herman Douglas Everett has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, Mr. Everett graduated from Sylvester High School and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia Southern University; and WHEREAS, he was the founder and president of Southern Appraisal Company, where he appraised commercial real estate for over 30 years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Everett's leadership was instrumental to organizations such as the Albany Planning and Zoning Commission and the Albany City Commission, where he served as mayor pro tem for two terms; and WHEREAS, he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1996 before serving on the Georgia Public Service Commission for almost two decades; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in his memory. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 133 from State Route 112 to Bridgeboro-Anderson City Road in Worth County is dedicated as the Doug Everett Memorial Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Doug Everett Memorial Highway. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Herman Douglas Everett and to the Department of Transportation.
