House Resolution 1580
By: Representatives Jasperse of the 11th, Thomas of the 21st, Scoggins of the 14th, Byrd of the
20th, and Fincher of the 23rd
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mayor A.R. "Rick" Roberts III and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mayor A.R. "Rick" Roberts III has long been recognized by the citizens of this
state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced
dramatically by his superlative service as mayor of Ball Ground, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Mayor Roberts expanded Ball Ground's sanitary sewer
system by increasing the water capacity seven fold; upgraded several city government
buildings including a new city hall, fire station, police station, library, senior center, and post
office; and revitalized and expanded the many beautiful parks and recreational areas of Ball
Ground such as Calvin Farmer Park and Roberts Lake Trail; and
WHEREAS, his vision and leadership lead to Ball Ground obtaining approval for a truck
bypass, the widening of Old Dawsonville Road, and the expansion of city sidewalks
connecting over 50 percent of residents to downtown, revitalizing the city for citizens and
tourists; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished
Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 5BU and Gilmer Ferry Road
in Cherokee County is dedicated as the Mayor Rick Roberts Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Mayor Rick Roberts
Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to
Mayor A.R. Roberts III and to the Department of Transportation.
