By: Representatives Bonner of the 73rd, Bazemore of the 69th, Mathiak of the 82nd, and
Jenkins of the 136th
A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Mr. Marvin R. Adams and dedicating an intersection in his memory; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Marvin R. Adams has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Adams diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his
time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced
dramatically by his superlative service with the Fayette County Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Adams served with honor and distinction with the Fayette County Board
of Commissioners, and his vision and unyielding commitment helped establish the Fayette
County Zoning Department; and
WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this
state earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, for over 50 years, Mr. Adams' farm provided a wonderful place for the citizens
of Fayette County and the surrounding areas to shop for fresh produce and fruits; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished
Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating an intersection in his memory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 54 and Tyrone Road in
Fayette County is dedicated as the Marvin R. Adams Memorial Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Marvin R. Adams Memorial
Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
family of Mr. Marvin R. Adams and to the Department of Transportation.
