## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution honors the late infant Halo Skye McGuffie and commends her family for speaking publicly about infant and maternal loss and pushing for better maternal health care.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a change to state law. It recognizes Halo Skye McGuffie, an infant who died young, and commends her parents Drew and Shannon McGuffie and her sibling Melody Reign McGuffie for sharing their experience with infant loss publicly.
The resolution states that the family's willingness to speak openly has helped raise awareness about maternal health care and the need for stronger public policy to reduce infant and maternal mortality in Georgia. It directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for the family. The resolution carries no funding, penalties, or enforceable legal requirements.

### What it does

- States the House's recognition of the family's advocacy on infant and maternal mortality and maternal health care.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Drew and Shannon McGuffie.
- Creates no new law, funding, or enforceable requirement; it is a symbolic statement adopted by the House.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors the McGuffie family. It does not impose obligations on any other group, though it references the broader population of families affected by infant and maternal mortality in Georgia.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no legal effect beyond a formal statement of recognition, but it publicly acknowledges the McGuffie family's story and points to maternal and infant health as an issue the legislature considers worth highlighting, without creating any new program or funding.

### Key provisions

- Whereas clauses describe Halo Skye McGuffie's life and the family's advocacy following her death.
- The resolving clause formally commends the four named family members for their courage and advocacy against infant and maternal mortality.
