A RESOLUTION
Congratulating and honoring William Edwards; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, William Edwards, a junior at the University of North Georgia (UNG), has been named the university's presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) for the 2024-2025 academic year, a prestigious program that includes monthly seminars and a multi-day leadership conference in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Edwards, a cadet major in the UNG Boar's Head Brigade and Brigade S-4, is pursing a degree in history with a perfect 4.0 GPA; and
WHEREAS, Edwards' selection for the CSPC fellowship reflects his commitment to studying the public policymaking process and fostering a deeper understanding of the presidency, Congress, and their roles in addressing national changes; and
WHEREAS, Edwards has achieved notable academic and military accomplishments, including earning an Army ROTC Scholarship, graduating from the Army Air Assault School at Fort Moore and the Cadet Basic Leadership Course (CBLC), and serving as commander of the Range Challenge Gold Team; and
WHEREAS, Edwards has demonstrated consistent academic excellence, earning a place on the UNG President's List every semester since Fall 2022, and he has further expanded his education through participation in the UNG Aviation Ground School and the United States Army Project GO Scholarship for studying Russian at the Strategic Language Institute; and
WHEREAS, Edwards, a resident of Dahlonega, Georgia, exemplifies leadership, scholarship, and service in his roles as a cadet, student, and active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity; and
WHEREAS, Edwards will culminate his CSPC fellowship experience by authoring a research paper that integrates his insights and learning; and
WHEREAS, Edwards credits the University of North Georgia with providing him confidence and a platform to make a meaningful difference in his community and beyond.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate and honor William Edwards upon being named the presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress as well as extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to William Edwards.
