House Resolution 1600 By: Representatives Buckner of the 137th, Hugley of the 141st, Oliver of the 84th, and Smith of the 138th A RESOLUTION Congratulating and commending Sheri Cody for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, in 1999, Representative Nikki T. Randall became the first African American female elected to the General Assembly from middle Georgia, and over her 17 years of service as a legislator, she held numerous leadership positions, including chair of the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus; and WHEREAS, every year during Women's History Month, the Georgia Women's Legislative Caucus recognizes outstanding women in Georgia who exemplify the leadership and inspiration embodied by Representative Randall; and WHEREAS, Sheri Cody has established a glowing reputation of renown throughout Georgia as the Executive Director of Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Inc.; and WHEREAS, she passionately oversees work in Columbus, Macon, and LaGrange, Georgia, as well as Opelika and East Alabama, providing diverse programs, including foster care, advocacy, community and prevention services, as well as residential services; and WHEREAS, Sheri manages an organization with a substantial financial footprint, overseeing total annual revenues that reached approximately $14.8 million in 2024; and WHEREAS, her public advocacy work includes serving as Vice President of the Board of Together Georgia and involvement in legislative sessions at the Georgia State Capitol, where she advocates for child welfare services and funding; and WHEREAS, combining operational leadership with direct legislative advocacy to support at-risk youth and families, Sheri has been a key voice in Georgia's child welfare legislative landscape; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary servant leader be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate and commend Sheri Cody for receiving the 2026 Yellow Rose Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award and extend best wishes for her continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sheri Cody.
