A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Ivey Joe Poole; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Ivey Joe Poole was born on March 15, 1936, in Sandersville, Georgia, and this year he enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating his 90th birthday; and
WHEREAS, he courageously served in the United Sttaes Army from July 28, 1958, to July 30, 1960, where he was stationed in Germany and trained as a Communication Specialist and Fire Control Operator on the Missile Base; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, after moving to Atlanta in 1963, he started his own company, Poole Brothers Construction Company; and
WHEREAS, Poole Brothers Construction Company was instrumental in the construction and development of the Baker Hills, Bakersferry Road, and Dollar Mill subdivisions of Southwest Atlanta; two Baptist churches; as well as The Hillendale Estates at Flat Shoals Road, a 30 home development in Fayetteville, several private homes for noted business owners in Southwest Atlanta, and a subdivision in Peachtree City specifically for Black Pilots; and
WHEREAS, in the late 1970s, Poole Brother Construction Company dissolved, leaving Ivey and his wife to establish a new business, Building and Refurbishing, where he handled contracts with Bank of America and Red Wine Bank until his retirement in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Ivey Joe Poole possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, by the example he has made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ivey Joe Poole for his unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of his family and state; congratulate him on the remarkable occasion of his 90th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ivey Joe Poole.
