House Resolution 1606 By: Representatives Huddleston of the 72nd, Smith of the 18th, and Howard of the 71st A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative upon its 90th anniversary; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, established in 1936, the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative has provided its members with safe, reliable, and affordable power for the last 90 years; and WHEREAS, this distinguished organization was formed following the creation of the Rural Electrification Administration by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and spearheaded by Robert D. Tisinger, who led the electrification movement in West Georgia; and WHEREAS, on July 31, 1937, its first section of line provided power to 344 members, and as of today, the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative serves more than 56,000 members across Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, Troup, and Floyd counties; and WHEREAS, through more than 5,500 miles of line and 25 substations, the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative continues to enhance the quality of life and provide innovative solutions for the communities it serves; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable cooperative be appropriately honored during this special time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative upon its 90th anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of successful operation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative.
