A RESOLUTION
Commending the wrestling programs of Jackson County High School, Jefferson High
School, Commerce High School, and East Jackson High School for their outstanding
accomplishments during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Jackson County High School, Jefferson High School, Commerce High School,
and East Jackson High School demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and competitive
excellence during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season, qualifying a combined 45 wrestlers to
compete among the state's top athletes and producing 10 individual state champions; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson High School continued its long-standing tradition of excellence by
winning the 2026 GHSA Class 3A Traditional Wrestling Team State Championship, securing
the program's 26th traditional state title, and earlier in the season, the team captured the 2026
GHSA Class 3A Team Duals State Championship, the program's 26th duals title and the
most of any school; and
WHEREAS, East Jackson High School achieved a historic milestone by winning the 2026
GHSA Class 2A Traditional Wrestling Team State Championship, the first traditional team
state title in the program's history, following an impressive season that also included a
runner-up finish in the 2026 GHSA Class 2A Team Duals State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Commerce High School wrestling program continued its proud competitive
tradition by finishing second in its classification at the 2026 GHSA Traditional Wrestling
State Championships and advancing to the semifinals of the 2026 GHSA Team Duals State
Championships; and
WHEREAS, the Jackson County High School wrestling program likewise demonstrated
exceptional competitive strength during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season by advancing to
the semifinals of the 2026 GHSA Team Duals State Championships in its classification and
finishing eighth at the 2026 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championships; and
WHEREAS, these remarkable accomplishments stand as testament to the dedication of these
student-athletes, coaches, families, and communities, representing a proud achievement for
Jackson County and the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend the wrestling programs of Jackson County High School,
Jefferson High School, Commerce High School, and East Jackson High School for their
outstanding accomplishments during the 2026 GHSA wrestling season and extend best
wishes for their continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to
Jackson County High School, Jefferson High School, Commerce High School, and East
Jackson High School.
