## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would honor former state lawmaker Darryl W. Jordan by naming an intersection in Clayton County after him and directing the state to post signs marking it.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution recognizes Darryl W. Jordan, a longtime Henry County educator and former member of the Georgia House of Representatives, for his career in teaching and public service. It recounts his education, his 31 years as a teacher, his time in the legislature starting in 2000, and various awards he received.
The operative part of the resolution designates the intersection of State Route 3 (Tara Blvd) and Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County as the Darryl Jordan Intersection. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication, and instructs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to Mr. Jordan and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Names the intersection of State Route 3 (Tara Blvd) and Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County the Darryl Jordan Intersection.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to Mr. Jordan and the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

Primarily the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain the signage, and residents and drivers in Clayton County who use the intersection. It also formally honors Darryl W. Jordan, a former state representative and educator.

### Why it matters

If adopted, the resolution results in new road signage at a specific Clayton County intersection and a formal state honor for Jordan's decades of teaching and public service, though it does not change any laws, funding, or regulations affecting the public.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses detail Jordan's education, 31-year teaching career in Henry County, and service in the Georgia House starting in 2000.
- The resolved clause dedicates the intersection of State Route 3 (Tara Blvd) and Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County as the Darryl Jordan Intersection.
- A further resolved clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs.
- A final clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to Jordan and the Department of Transportation.
