## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would name the interchange of I-285 and US-29 in DeKalb County the Representative Michele Henson Interchange, honoring her decades of service in the legislature.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives rather than a bill that changes state law. It recognizes former Representative Michele Henson, who served DeKalb County in the Georgia House starting in 1990 and worked on health care access, including adding dental coverage for children through Georgia's PeachCare program.
The resolution officially dedicates the interchange of State Route 407 (I-285) and State Route 8 (US-29) in DeKalb County as the Representative Michele Henson Interchange. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the dedication, and it directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to Representative Henson and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Officially names the interchange of I-285 and US-29 in DeKalb County the Representative Michele Henson Interchange.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedicated interchange.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to Representative Henson and the Department of Transportation.
- Does not change any Georgia statute; it is a formal honorary recognition rather than a law with penalties or funding.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install signage, and honors former state Representative Michele Henson. Drivers in DeKalb County who use the I-285/US-29 interchange will see the new signage.

### Why it matters

The practical effect is limited to renaming and signing a highway interchange; it does not alter any law, funding, or regulation affecting the public. Its significance is symbolic, formally recognizing a former legislator's decades of service to DeKalb County and the state.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's preamble recounts Representative Henson's education, 1990 election to the Georgia House, committee service, and health care advocacy including PeachCare dental coverage.
- The first resolving clause dedicates the interchange of State Route 407 (I-285) and State Route 8 (US-29) in DeKalb County as the Representative Michele Henson Interchange.
- A further clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs for the dedication.
- A final clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to Representative Henson and the Department of Transportation.
