A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Mr. Jimmy "Lord" Brown and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy "Lord" Brown has long been recognized for his musical talents and
unique sound; and
WHEREAS, he is the founding member and master horn player for Brick, a legendary funk
and rhythm and blues band whose innovative blend of jazz, funk, and dance has left a lasting
impact on American music; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown's energy on the saxophone, flute, trumpet, and trombone created the
unmistakable brass-driven energy behind the band's hits, Dusic, Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody,
and Happy; and
WHEREAS, his music stands as a symbol of funk excellence, cultural pride, and musical
innovation; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished
Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 204 and Middleground Road
in Chatham County is dedicated as the Jimmy "Lord" Brown Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Jimmy "Lord" Brown
Intersection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Mr.
Jimmy "Lord" Brown and to the Department of Transportation.
