A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Honorable Dewey McClain; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Honorable Dewey McClain has long been recognized by the citizens of this
state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, State Representative Dewey McClain was first elected and began serving the
citizens of Gwinnett County in 2014, and he currently serves on the Game, Fish and Parks,
Industry & Labor, Motor Vehicles, State Planning, and Community Affairs committees; and
WHEREAS, prior to being elected to represent the great citizens of Georgia's District 109,
Representative McClain was a professional football player; spent 18 years with the
Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs; worked four years with the Atlanta
Workforce Development Agency; as well as served as the President of the Atlanta North
Georgia Labor Council AFL-CIO; and
WHEREAS, he has selflessly volunteered with numerous organizations such as the Special
Olympics, Boys and Girls Club, the Sickle Cell Foundation, and the Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Center for Non-Violent Social Change; and
WHEREAS, Representative McClain also serves on the Board of the NFLPA Gene Upshaw
Players Assistance Trust Fund, NFLPA National Former Players, Metro Atlanta United Way,
and Gwinnett County Parks Foundation; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom
which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved
through overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend The Honorable Dewey McClain for his
efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend
the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The
Honorable Dewey McClain.
