## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would honor former State Representative Roger Bruce by naming an intersection in Fulton County after him and directing the state to post signs marking it.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives recognizes the career and public service of former State Representative Roger Bruce, who represented House District 61 starting in 2002 and served on numerous committees including Judiciary, Appropriations, and Education.
The resolution designates the intersection of State Route 6 (Camp Creek Parkway) and State Route 70 (Fulton County Industrial Boulevard SW) in Fulton County as the State Representative Roger Bruce Intersection. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication, and directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to Bruce and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Names the intersection of State Route 6 (Camp Creek Parkway) and State Route 70 (Fulton County Industrial Boulevard SW) in Fulton County the State Representative Roger Bruce Intersection.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the newly named intersection.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to Bruce and to the Department of Transportation.
- Recites Bruce's biography and legislative service as the basis for the honor, without changing any state law or funding program.

### Who it affects

The honor directly concerns former State Representative Roger Bruce. The Georgia Department of Transportation must install and maintain the new signage, and Fulton County residents and drivers who use the Camp Creek Parkway and Fulton County Industrial Boulevard intersection will see the new name.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no regulatory or budgetary effect beyond requiring the Department of Transportation to post new signage at one intersection. Its practical significance is symbolic, formally recognizing a former legislator's decades of service to Fulton and Douglas County constituents.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses detail Bruce's education, committee assignments, and community leadership roles as the rationale for the honor.
- The operative resolution clause dedicates the named intersection as the State Representative Roger Bruce Intersection.
- A further resolved clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs.
- A final clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to Bruce and the Department of Transportation.
