House Resolution 171 By: Representatives Jackson of the 68th, Bazemore of the 69th, Gilliard of the 162nd, Prince of the 132nd, and Bell of the 75th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and WHEREAS, he currently serves as the founding pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church PTC, which he established in January 2010 with a mission to strive for excellence in worship, witness, and work; and WHEREAS, under his visionary leadership, Cornerstone Baptist Church PTC grew from holding worship services in leased spaces to securing a permanent worship facility on a 21-acre campus in Fayette County, Georgia, within three years of its founding; and WHEREAS, Reverend Curry is a third-generation Baptist preacher who was licensed to preach in 1993 and ordained in 1998 by Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Salem Baptist District Association of Chicago, Illinois, and he has since shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ across the nation; and WHEREAS, as testament to his exemplary spiritual service, he was honored in March 2014 when he was inducted into the distinguished Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College; and WHEREAS, Reverend Curry further serves as a member of the State Bar of Georgia and has made significant contributions as a noted trial attorney, including his service as legal advisor for the Legal Redress Commission of the Fayette County N.A.A.C.P.; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry for his many years of dedicated service on behalf of his fellow citizens as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry.
