Honoring the life and memory of Nasir Shakur Lay; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Nasir Shakur Lay was a beloved son whose life, though tragically brief, brought
joy, promise, and immeasurable love to his family and to all who knew him; and
WHEREAS, he was deeply cherished by his mother, Marquenetta Clark-Bethune, whose
devotion, strength, and enduring love reflect the powerful bond between a mother and her
child; and
WHEREAS, the loss of a young life is a profound tragedy that touches not only a family but
also an entire community, reminding us of the precious and irreplaceable value of every
child; and
WHEREAS, although his time on this earth was far too short, his memory lives on through
the love of his family and through the compassion and support of those who stand beside
them during this difficult time; and

heartfelt sympathy to his family while acknowledging the strength and resilience they have
demonstrated in the face of unimaginable loss; and
WHEREAS, every child's life carries immeasurable worth, and honoring Nasir Shakur Lay's
memory serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to care for, protect, and uplift the
children of this state.

the members of this body honor the life and memory of Nasir Shakur Lay and extend their
deepest condolences to his mother, Marquenetta Clark-Bethune, and to all of his family and
