A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 19, 2026, as Golf Day; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, golf is an extremely popular sport in the State of Georgia, and each year both
national and international media turn to the Peach State for two of the most iconic golf events
in the world: the Masters Tournament and the TOUR Championship; and
WHEREAS, as an industry, golf annually provides a major economic impact on this state,
including $5.3 billion in direct, indirect, and induced economic output; $2.7 billion in labor
income; $259 million in state and local taxes; and a combined $273 million in proceeds from
professional and charitable events; and
WHEREAS, in 2022, Georgia's golf wholesale and retail businesses added $1.1 billion and
$176 million respectively, highlighted by contributions from Bridgestone, PGA TOUR
Superstores, and golf cart manufacturers; and
WHEREAS, our state's golf courses and entertainment venues employ thousands of
individuals and serve as local economic drivers, supporting more than 24,000 jobs and
providing $1.8 billion to the economy; and
WHEREAS, as the game of golf drives significant economic activity in this state and is
enjoyed by many, it is abundantly fitting and proper that it be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize March 19, 2026, as Golf Day in honor of the sport's
immensely positive economic impact on this state and encourage all citizens to enjoy it for
themselves as a player, spectator, or both.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
