A RESOLUTION

Commending Monique Wilson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Monique Wilson is a breast cancer survivor, cancer care coordinator, board-certified mastectomy fitter, wellness coach, national advocate, and ordained minister whose life and work exemplify resilience, service, and purpose; and

WHEREAS, in 2016, after being diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer, Monique Wilson chose resilience over fear, transforming her personal experience into a source of strength not only for herself but for countless others navigating cancer survivorship; and

WHEREAS, alongside her husband of 26 years, she has participated in the annual Tour de Pink charity bike ride for eight consecutive years, reinforcing her belief that healing, strength, and restoration are built through shared community and collective support; and

WHEREAS, in 2023, Monique Wilson expanded her national advocacy efforts through the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship by becoming an NCCS Elevate Ambassador; and

WHEREAS, through the Elevating Survivorship Program and the Cancer Policy and Advocacy Team, she received advanced advocacy training and traveled to Capitol Hill to advocate for federal survivorship legislation on behalf of patients and survivors nationwide; and

WHEREAS, she serves as chapter president of the Sisters Network, Southwest Georgia, and as a Face2Face coordinator with the Young Survival Coalition, offering mentorship, connection, and hope to fellow survivors; and

WHEREAS, Monique Wilson envisions a future in which every survivor has access to equitable care, comprehensive resources, and supportive communities, regardless of background or circumstance; and

WHEREAS, her message is rooted in authenticity and hope: "Life is tough, but so are you. Take it one day at a time and remember—I WILL SURVIVE”; and

WHEREAS, Monique Wilson continues to make a lasting difference by demonstrating that survivorship is not only about living, but about leading with purpose, service, and compassion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Monique Wilson for her extraordinary resilience, advocacy, and service to cancer survivors as well as extend best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Monique Wilson.
