A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Morningside Presbyterian Church on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the seeds which were sown by the loving and humble efforts of the devoted original worshipers of Morningside Presbyterian Church have blossomed, establishing a rich tradition and history; and

WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church has been integral to making disciples of Jesus Christ in the Morningside neighborhood in Atlanta since the 1920s, when the road into this new community was paved and farmland gave way to development; and

WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church was established as a mission of the Atlanta Presbytery Home Mission Committee and First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta in November 1925; and

WHEREAS, the congregation of this church has compiled an unparalleled record of passion, action and inclusivity, which it demonstrates daily through a wide embrace for all of God's children, inviting all to journey together in worship, service, growth and community; and

WHEREAS, the members of Morningside Presbyterian Church have a sincere desire to serve the Lord and are wholeheartedly committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, Morningside Presbyterian Church has a long-standing reputation of service to others, currently supporting Clifton Sanctuary Ministries, Intown Cares, J. W. Dobbs Elementary School, Memorial Drive Ministries, MPC C.A.R.E., and Nicholas House; and

WHEREAS, the church's Weekday Children's Ministries, Morningside Presbyterian Preschool (MPP), operates a half-day preschool serving children ages 15-months to Pre-K; and

WHEREAS MPP believes in inclusivity, welcoming students, families, and teachers of all faiths, ethnicities, and backgrounds to its diverse community through a developmental philosophy of learning-through-play to create a solid foundation for a lifelong love of learning; and

WHEREAS, on November 16, 2025, Morningside Presbyterian Church celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special Centennial Worship Service followed by a fellowship reception; and

WHEREAS the church continued to celebrate with additional events throughout the season, including special music events, a tree planting with Trees Atlanta, "This I Believe" Sunday with church archives, and fellowship and storytelling.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the rich history of Morningside Presbyterian Church, commend its 100 years of dedicated service to the Lord and community, and extend their warmest best wishes for its continued growth and success as they look forward to the future and reflect on where God has led them and where God is guiding them next. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Morningside Presbyterian Church.
