House Resolution 1726

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Mickey Jones on the
occasion of his military retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, our nation's security relies on patriotic men and women who place themselves
in harm's way to protect the freedoms cherished by all United States citizens; and
WHEREAS, Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Mickey Jones, a native of Oglethorpe,
Georgia, has honorably served for decades as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty
with the United States Navy, culminating in his final post as the Command Master Chief of
Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific; and
WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Command Master Chief Jones has carried
out fleet assignments aboard the USS Orion, USS Hunley, USS O'Brien, USS Curtis Wilbur,
USS Thach, USS Gary, USS Kitty Hawk, USS Essex, and USS Bonhomme Richard; and
WHEREAS, he has further completed shore duty assignments at the Naval
Leadership/Center for Personal and Professional Development in Kings Bay, Georgia, and
Afloat Training Group Western Pacific in Yokosuka, Japan; and
WHEREAS, selected to the Command Master Chief (CMC) program in 2015, his tours
included Port Royal in Honolulu, Hawaii; Commander, Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN; and
Naval Surface Group Western Pacific, homeported in Yokosuka; and
WHEREAS, Command Master Chief Jones has additionally distinguished himself as a
graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the
Boat School, and the Navy Senior Leadership Seminar; and
WHEREAS, his decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with
three awards, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four awards, and
numerous unit and campaign awards; and
WHEREAS, through strength, discipline, and steadfast resolve, Command Master Chief
Jones has brought great credit to himself, his family, the State of Georgia, and this nation,
and it is abundantly fitting and proper that his outstanding service be honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Command Master Chief (SW/AW)
Mickey Jones for his effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia
and this nation; congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement; and extend best wishes
for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Mickey Jones.
