House Resolution 1732 By: Representatives Alexander of the 66th, McClain of the 109th, Baker of the 64th, and New of the 40th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and congratulating Elana Meyers Taylor; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Elana Meyers Taylor, who grew up in Douglasville, Georgia, is a six time Olympic medalist in bobsled and one of the most accomplished athletes in the sport's history; and WHEREAS, following her successful career as a softball player at George Washington University, Elana began competing in the two-woman bobsled event in 2007, before expanding into the monobob event during the 2020-2021 World Cup season; and WHEREAS, upon her bobsled debut, she immediately made the United States National Team, quickly putting her on the path to becoming one of the most decorated women in bobsled history; and WHEREAS, currently, she competes at the highest level in both disciplines, demonstrating her remarkable versatility and unwavering commitment to excellence; and WHEREAS, she made her Olympic debut at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and has competed in every Games since then, consistently finishing on the podium each time; and WHEREAS, over the course of her career, she has captured six Olympic, 12 World Championship, and 14 international medals, cementing her reputation as an undisputed legend in the bobsledding community; and WHEREAS, at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Milan-Cortina, Italy, she took home her first gold medal at the age of 41; and WHEREAS, her outstanding achievements continue to shine a spotlight on the State of Georgia in the international sports community and serve as an inspiration to the next generation of winter sports athletes from the state. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Elana Meyers Taylor for her many contributions to the sport of bobsled, congratulate her upon winning her first Olympic gold medal, and extend their sincere best wishes for her continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Elana Meyers Taylor.
