A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team for winning the 2026 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball competition by posting an outstanding record of 23 wins and only five losses; and

WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school and to Terrell County by winning the 2026 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship against Lakeview Academy with a final score of 51 to 48; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Eric Israel who was named District 3 AAA Coach of the Year and GIAA AAA Coach of the Year; and

WHEREAS, this all-star team included Annalea Massey, Sally Masters, Hadley Webb, Caroline Joiner, Piper Graham, Harlee Torbert, Lyla Griffin, Natalie Oliver, Lily Addison, Peyton Thaggard, Mackenzie Guined, and Rachel Barfield; and

WHEREAS, senior Sally Masters was named as the District 3 AAA Player of the Year and was named the GIAA AAA Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team for winning the 2026 GIAA AAA Basketball State Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team.
