A RESOLUTION

Commending Atlanta International Fashion Week on its 19th year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week is a revolutionary event that is engineering the global fashion experience and attracting industry influencers to arts, culture, fashion, and entertainment; and

WHEREAS, under the guiding hand of Founder and Director Paula Whittle, Atlanta International Fashion Week has become one of the largest fashion and entertainment events of the year; and

WHEREAS, the event offers 50 designers, 12 runway shows, six celebrity events, four fashion workshops, and two trunk shows in one week; and

WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week paves the way for the fashion industry in Atlanta by providing opportunities and propelling the careers of talented individuals, placing Atlanta on a global scale for fashion, highlighting Atlanta's rich heritage and historic buildings, as well as offering youth development and mentorship through the nonprofit, Fashion Apprentice; and

WHEREAS, Atlanta International Fashion Week also has several community development initiatives and various programs that improve citizen lives, such as Beauty & A Makeover; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding event be recognized for its contributions to arts, fashion, community development, and culture in the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia, and globally.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Atlanta International Fashion Week on its 19th year and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued growth and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Paula Whittle, the public, and the press.
