House Resolution 1746
By: Representatives Fleming of the 114th, Martinez of the 111th, and Williamson of the 112th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Bethany Shirley; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Bethany Shirley is a nationally recognized sporter air rifle athlete whose
dedication, consistency, and championship-level focus have made her one of the top junior
shooters in the country; and
WHEREAS, a homeschooled senior from the Class of 2026, Bethany has competed, and
excelled, on every major stage in junior marksmanship; and
WHEREAS, in 2025 alone, she achieved a rare sweep of the CMP, 4-H, and American
Legion National Championships, demonstrating her dominance across all major governing
bodies; and
WHEREAS, among her many accolades, she is also a two-time gold medalist at both the
Gary Anderson Invitational and the Camp Perry Open, a Daisy Nationals gold medalist, and
has earned back-to-back silver medals at the Junior Air Rifle Nationals; and
WHEREAS, Bethany embodies the 4-H values of head, heart, hands, and health, and her
journey reflects the true spirit of 4-H – preparing young people to lead and succeed, one goal
at a time; and
WHEREAS, this stellar young woman epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and
character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and
WHEREAS, Bethany Shirley's victories are the culmination of a lifetime of hard work,
dedication, and excellent sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, her superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned her the respect and
admiration of her teammates and challengers; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlative abilities of this
accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect she has
brought to herself and her community, be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend Bethany Shirley and extend best wishes
for success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Bethany Shirley.
