## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would name the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass in Barrow County the Honorable Terry England Intersection, honoring the former state representative.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution honors former state representative Terry England, who served 18 years in the Georgia House of Representatives before retiring in 2023 and later returned as chief of staff to House Speaker John Burns. The resolution recounts his career, including chairing the House Appropriations Committee and serving on several other House committees.
The operative action is narrow: it dedicates the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass in Barrow County as the Honorable Terry England Intersection. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication, and directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to England and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Dedicates the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass in Barrow County as the Honorable Terry England Intersection.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the newly named intersection.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to send copies of the resolution to Terry England and to the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

This mainly affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain the signage, and residents and travelers in Barrow County who use the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass. It also formally recognizes former state representative Terry England.

### Why it matters

The practical effect is limited to signage: drivers passing through this Barrow County intersection will see it named after Terry England, and the Department of Transportation takes on a small ongoing duty to maintain the signs. It carries no other legal or funding consequences.

### Key provisions

- The resolved clause names the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass in Barrow County as the Honorable Terry England Intersection.
- A further resolved clause authorizes and directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs for the dedication.
- A final clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to England and the Department of Transportation.
