A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and legacy of Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III, affectionately known as "Chaplain Luke," a beloved servant leader of the Henry County community, passed away peacefully at his home in McDonough, Georgia, on March 8, 2026, at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson was born on June 12, 1934, and after attending North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia, he answered the call to serve his nation by joining the United States Marine Corps, serving two years on active duty and an additional six years in the Marine Corps Reserves; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson dedicated more than five decades of faithful service as the Henry County Jail Chaplain, providing spiritual guidance, compassion, and hope to countless individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives; and

WHEREAS, in the early 1970s, Reverend Edmondson founded Team Jesus Ministries, Inc., an ecumenical, nondenominational Christian ministry that began as a Christian Motor Cross racing outreach and grew into a wide-ranging network of ministries including jail and prison ministries, street ministries, hospital and senior home chaplaincies, cancer patient support ministries, children's ministries, and corporate chaplain services; and

WHEREAS, through Team Jesus Ministries, Reverend Edmondson helped inspire and equip generations of Christian leaders, licensing and ordaining more than 200 ministers who continue to serve communities across the nation; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Edmondson's lifelong commitment to faith, service, and compassion profoundly touched the lives of countless men and women in Henry County and beyond, leaving a legacy of ministry, mentorship, and spiritual leadership that will endure for generations; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding life and public service of this remarkable citizen be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the life and legacy of Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III, recognize his extraordinary service to the people of Henry County and the State of Georgia, and extend their deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Reverend Lucious H. Edmondson, III.
