A RESOLUTION
Commending the Wilcox County Lady Patriots basketball team for winning the 2026 GHSA
Class A Division II Girls Basketball State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Wilcox County girls basketball team has established and maintained a proud
tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball
competition by posting an outstanding record of 29 wins and one loss; and
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team
a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable
2026 campaign, the team captured its second girls basketball state championship, securing
back-to-back titles for the first time in program history; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each
member of the team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of
Head Coach Santita Coon; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is
abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend the Wilcox County Lady Patriots basketball team for
winning the 2026 GHSA Class A Division II Girls Basketball State Championship and
extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Wilcox County Lady Patriots basketball team.
