A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commend Dr. Robert O. Scott; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on May 1, 2025, Dr. Robert O. Scott became the 11th president of Albany State University, bringing with him a distinguished career spanning higher education, scientific research, and global industry leadership; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1903, Albany State University stands as one of the State of Georgia's most prestigious universities and is a cornerstone of opportunity in the state and region; and
WHEREAS, for more than a century, the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) has advanced academic excellence, social mobility, and economic impact, preparing generations of students to lead, serve, and transform their communities; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Scott, a first-generation college graduate, earned his bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University, an HBCU, as a DNIMAS scholar, and later became the first DNIMAS scholar to earn a Ph.D., completing his doctoral studies at Georgia Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, his distinguished career spans academic leadership at institutions including Norfolk State University, Boston College, and Spelman college as well as senior and development research roles at Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, Abbott Nutrition, and The Kraft Heinz Company; and
WHEREAS, as president of Albany State University, Dr. Scott leads with a vison centered on student excellence, accountability, and growth, focusing on laying a strong foundation for future success; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Scott's deep personal commitment to students success, innovation, and partnership have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Robert O. Scott and extend their sincere best wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Robert O. Scott.
