House Resolution 1849

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team, is a nonprofit
organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, that aims to provide a competitive program that helps
woman-athletes over 50 compete on a national level while maintaining physical, mental,
ethical, and social well-being; and
WHEREAS, the Atlanta Lady Hawks are comprised of three teams, aged 50-54, 55-59, and
60-64 years old, and are currently preparing for the 2027 Senior Basketball Olympics; and
WHEREAS, in 2025, at the National Senior Games, held in Des Moines, Iowa, the 50-54
team won the gold medal in their division, the 55-59 team won 6th place, and the 60-64 team
won 4th out of 29 teams; and
WHEREAS, in 2024, the Atlanta Lady Hawks won gold medals at the Crescent Court
Classic Senior Women's Basketball Tournament at Tulane University, the South Carolina
Sports Classic State Games, and the Florida Senior Games; and
WHEREAS, among many other achievements, the Atlanta Lady Hawks 55-59 team won the
2022 Georgia Golden Olympics and 2022 Florida Senior Games, emerging undefeated in
their tournaments; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor the athletic determination and
unwavering commitment of the members and coaches of the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior
women's basketball team.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize and commend the Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's
basketball team and extend their sincere best wishes for their continued success at the 2027
Senior Basketball Olympics.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Atlanta Lady Hawks senior women's basketball team.
