A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of John Alan Dickerson, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of John Alan Dickerson, Sr., on December 27, 2025; and

WHEREAS, John Alan Dickerson, Sr., was born on August 23, 1946, in Anderson, South Carolina, a beloved son of Fay and Laura Elizabeth McCurley Dickerson; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from Hart County High School in 1964 and went on to attend Clemson University where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1968; and

WHEREAS, while at Clemson John served as President of the Blue Key National Honor Society, President of the Clemson University Student Senate, Vice president of the social fraternity Kappa Delta Chi, and was inducted into Tiger Brotherhood; and

WHEREAS, John was a true master of the law and enjoyed an extraordinary legal career, receiving numerous statewide and local honors, including the Chief Justice Thomas O. Marshall Professionalism Award and the Tradition of Excellence Award from the State Bar of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he also received the Distinguished Citizen Award presented by the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was honored as the Outstanding Young Man of Toccoa and Stephens County; and

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife of 56 years, Paula, and was blessed with four remarkable children and seven wonderful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, John will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of John Alan Dickerson, Sr., and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of John Alan Dickerson, Sr.
