By: Representatives Santos of the 117th, Sanchez of the 42nd, Flournoy of the 74th, Holly of
the 116th, Bell of the 75th, and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 26, 2026, as We Are CASA Day at the state capitol; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, We Are CASA is a Georgia organization that unifies immigrant and
working-class families to build power and improve the quality of life in Black, Latino/a/e,
Afro-descendent, Indigenous, and immigrant communities; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA is an individual membership organization with more than 450
members in Georgia, dozens of whom come to the state capitol on a regular basis; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA creates change in communities by blending human services,
community organizing, and advocacy in order to serve the full spectrum of the needs,
dreams, and aspirations of its members; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA unites community members for advocacy campaigns such as
tenants rights following the passage of HB 404 and student safety in the wake of increasing
federal enforcement actions across the state; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA, in the last year alone, has equipped over 400 people with health
insurance through a partnership with Kaiser Permanente; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA members contribute to their local communities by filling
essential jobs, growing faith-based communities, engaging in their children's schools, and
fighting to ensure their housing rights and those of their neighbors are respected; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA's staff provide access to health services, English classes, "Know
Your Rights" seminars, and legal clinics with the help of partner non-profits and the private
bar; and
WHEREAS, We Are CASA, through their C4, We Are CASA Action, has helped register
over 1,400 new voters and engaged hundreds of voters at their doors; and
WHEREAS, the members of We Are CASA are people who have chosen Georgia as their
home; a state where they are buying homes, growing businesses, raising children, and
contributing to the culture and economy of our state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize March 26, 2026, as We Are CASA Day at the state
capitol.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
