A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team for winning
the 2026 GHSA Class AA State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team has established
and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and
academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball
competition by posting an outstanding record of 27 wins and only four losses; and
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team
a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable
2026 campaign, the team captured its first state basketball championship title in 61 years; and
WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school by winning the 2026 GHSA
AA State Basketball Championship against a formidable opponent with a final score of 51
to 48; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the
team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Chris
Tipton; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is
abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate the Murray County High School Girls Varsity
basketball team for winning the 2026 GHSA Class AA State Basketball Championship and
extend best wishes for their continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Murray County High School Girls Varsity basketball team.
