A RESOLUTION

Commending the legal externs for the 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, each year, the Georgia General Assembly relies on staff members to ensure that the business of the chambers runs efficiently, smoothly, and effectively; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia General Assembly has been very fortunate to have had the exceptional service of session externs whose work is consistently marked by a constant commitment to the highest standards of excellence; and

WHEREAS, this year's legal externs for House Committees and Joint Offices are students from the Georgia State University College of Law, the Mercer University School of Law, and the Emory University School of Law; and

WHEREAS, the following individuals have greatly served their offices and committees throughout the 2026 Legislative Session: Malia Roberson and Lily Robles, Office of Legislative Counsel; Lauren Tousignant, House Judiciary Committee; Matt Wagner, House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee; and Ben Bradley, Rachel Dorsey, and Cayla Clark, Office of General Counsel for the Georgia General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, through their externships, these students have received hands-on training in the practical application of the law, insight into the professional obligations of being an attorney, and real world experience with the lawmaking process; and

WHEREAS, the unique opportunity to participate as a session extern has undoubtedly enriched the academic study these students have completed, and they are abundantly deserving of recognition during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the legal externs for the 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia on their superb performance and extend the most sincere best wishes for success in their future pursuits.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to each of the externs named herein.
