A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and legacy of Sister Bessie Mae (Harrison) Manuel; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Sister Bessie Mae (Harrison) Manuel was born on December 21, 1930, in
Gadsden County, Florida, to the late Goldie Ervin Harrison and the late John Spencer
Harrison; and
WHEREAS, she received her education through the Gadsden County Public School System
and, at an early age, accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, becoming a devoted and faithful
member of Hopewell A.M.E. Church, where she served with unwavering dedication; and
WHEREAS, in 1948, she was united in holy matrimony to the late George Manuel, Sr., and
together they built a loving and strong family foundation, raising four children with care,
discipline, and faith; and
WHEREAS, Sister Manuel was a woman of grace, strength, and compassion, whose life was
a reflection of her deep faith, her love for family, and her commitment to serving others; and
WHEREAS, she leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children: three
daughters, Gloria, Mary Jane, and Edna; one son, George Manuel, Jr.; along with her beloved
grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
dear friends; and
WHEREAS, her legacy is one of faith, resilience, love, and service-qualities that will
continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her; and
WHEREAS, Sister Bessie Mae Manuel's life stands as a testament to the power of faith,
family, and community, leaving an indelible mark on generations to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body honor the life and legacy of Sister Bessie Mae (Harrison) Manuel,
celebrating her remarkable journey and the love she shared with all.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those
who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue to shine through her family and
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
family of Sister Bessie Mae (Harrison) Manuel.
