142nd, and Myles of the 126th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the honorable service of Dexter L. Sharper and expressing
gratitude for his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of the State of Georgia; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the members of the Georgia House of Representatives wish to recognize the
outstanding public service rendered by Dexter L. Sharper, who faithfully served the citizens
of House District 177 with integrity, commitment, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Representative Sharper has devoted more than three decades of his life to public
service, beginning with local leadership in Valdosta and Lowndes County and continuing
through his service in the Georgia House of Representatives after being first elected in 2012;
and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure in the General Assembly, Representative Sharper worked
diligently to advocate for the people of his district, championing initiatives that strengthened
communities, supported local institutions, and advanced opportunities for families and
businesses across South Georgia; and
WHEREAS, prior to and alongside his legislative service, Dexter Sharper served the
community as a city councilman and mayor pro tem, further demonstrating his deep
commitment to civic leadership and responsible governance; and
WHEREAS, Representative Sharper has also served the people of Georgia in the field of
emergency medical services as a dedicated paramedic, providing lifesaving care and support
to countless individuals during times of urgent need; and
WHEREAS, his career has been defined by a spirit of service, leadership, and mentorship,
and his contributions have made a lasting impact on the citizens of Valdosta, Lowndes
County, and the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and
public service of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body commend Dexter L. Sharper for his many years of dedicated
service and extend their sincere appreciation for his contributions to the citizens of the State
of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to
Dexter L. Sharper.
