A RESOLUTION
Designating April as National Black Women's History Month; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, National Black Women's History Month is a time to honor the rich heritage,
resilience, and achievements of Black Women who have positively shaped the United States;
and
WHEREAS, Black Women have played a pivotal role in advancing resilience,
empowerment, and faith; and
WHEREAS, the month of April will specifically highlight the experiences, achievements,
and unique contributions of Black Women throughout history; and
WHEREAS, National Black Women's History Month is designed to unify the community
by promoting visibility, education, empowerment, contribution, and achievement, all of
which positively impact communities across the globe; and
WHEREAS, the theme for the 2026 celebration of National Black Women's History Month
is "Black Women: Sharing our Stories, Honoring Our Legacies" which conveys
empowerment through storytelling, preservation of history and culture, celebration of
resilience, strength, and influence; and
WHEREAS, by recognizing and respecting the impact Black Women have made across
generations culturally, socially, politically, and personally, this month will acknowledge how
those women shaped the present.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body recognize April as National Black Women's History Month.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
