A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Center for Black Women's Wellness; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, over the past 36 years, the Center for Black Women's Wellness has served women, men, and children throughout metropolitan Atlanta through a host of programs and services aimed at optimizing health, strengthening families and communities, and advancing health equity; and

WHEREAS, the Center for Black Women's Wellness was initially established in 1988 as a program under the National Black Women's Health Project with the purpose of conducting self-help group development in public housing and developing resiliency among low-income women; and

WHEREAS, in 1996, the center incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization, and it has since worked to provide individuals in need with the physical, mental, emotional, and financial support necessary to live full and productive lives; and

WHEREAS, the exceptional staff, volunteers, and partners of the Center for Black Women's Wellness dedicate innumerable hours of their time and energy toward upholding the center's mission and supporting communities throughout metro Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary organization be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Center for Black Women's Wellness for its many outstanding contributions and years of service on behalf of the citizens of this state as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Center for Black Women's Wellness.
