WHEREAS, Morehouse College has long stood as a pillar of academic excellence, leadership, and the holistic development of young Black men; and WHEREAS, the Morehouse College Athletics Department continues to embody the institution's mission by cultivating discipline, integrity, and competitive excellence among its student-athletes; and WHEREAS, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) represents one of the most historic and competitive athletic conferences among HBCUs; and WHEREAS, during the most recent athletic season, the Morehouse College mens basketball team demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork, culminating in a conference championship victory and bringing honor to the institution; and WHEREAS, the Morehouse College track and field team showcased outstanding athleticism and dedication, achieving championship distinction within the SIAC and continuing a proud tradition of excellence in track and field; and WHEREAS, these achievements reflect not only athletic success but also the discipline, scholarship, and character instilled in Morehouse men; and WHEREAS, the accomplishments of these teams serve as a source of pride and inspiration for the campus community, alumni network, and the broader Atlanta community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Morehouse College Athletics Department for its continued commitment to excellence in intercollegiate athletics. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that special recognition is given to the Morehouse College mens basketball team as well as the Morehouse College track and field team for their outstanding achievements as Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champions during the most recent season.
