House Resolution 1955

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing June 5, 2026, as "Women's Golf Day" in Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, golf education companies, club managers, teaching professionals, and amateur
golf associations in Georgia work together to promote the game of golf by enhancing access
to golf and raising public understanding and appreciation of the contribution of women to the
state's business and golf communities; and
WHEREAS, the number of women playing and enjoying golf in Georgia is increasing at a
rapid pace, and the popularity of golf among Georgia women is at an all-time high and still
climbing; and
WHEREAS, according to the National Golf Foundation, 23 percent of all golfers are women;
and
WHEREAS, as an industry, golf annually provides a major economic impact on this state,
including $5.3 billion in direct, indirect, and induced economic output; $2.7 billion in labor
income; $259 million in state and local taxes; and a combined $273 million in proceeds from
professional and charitable events; and
WHEREAS, playing golf helps family members maintain a healthy lifestyle, with benefits
including, but not limited to, burning up to 1,000 calories by walking between four and eight
miles per game, reducing stress, and lowering cholesterol; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the important contributions of
women to the sport of golf in the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body join in recognizing June 5, 2026, as "Women's Golf Day" in
Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the
public and the press.
