A RESOLUTION

Honoring the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., upon its 90th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on December 5, 1935, the illustrious Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune founded the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., (NCNW) to harness the collective strength and voices of women of African descent to achieve justice and equality; and

WHEREAS, the NCNW has since flourished into a powerful network with more than 2 million people, sustained by the enduring legacy of President Emerita Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, and it is currently led with distinction by National Board Chair Dr. A. Lois Keith and President and CEO Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley; and

WHEREAS, the organization remains anchored by its "Core Four" strategic pillars: Education (Bethune-Height Changemaker Pathway), Health Equity (Good Health WINs), Economic Justice (RISE), and Social Justice advocacy; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia State Coalition, re-envisioned in 2016 under the leadership of Dr. A. Lois Keith and now led by State President Dr. Gloria Dodson, maintains a robust presence across the state through 13 community sections and 19 collegiate sections; and

WHEREAS, the year 2025–2026 marks the 90th anniversary of this storied institution, celebrated through the 15-city "PowerUp Tour" and the recognition of champions such as Congresswoman Maxine Waters at the 19th Biennial Uncommon Height Honors Gala.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., for 90 years of "Leading, Outreaching, and Uplifting" as well as celebrate the dedication of the Georgia State Coalition and its commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders from the collegiate halls to the community streets.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.
