House Resolution 1973 By: Representatives Flournoy of the 74th, Herring of the 145th, Jones of the 143rd, Carter of the 93rd, and Kendrick of the 95th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Ms. Shennill Gray upon her retirement; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Ms. Shennill Gray has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her superlative service with the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program; and WHEREAS, for three decades, Ms. Gray has been a steady, caring presence within the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program, which is housed under the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC); and WHEREAS, during her tenure, she has devoted her professional life to walking alongside individuals and families coping with the aftermath of violent crime in moments when grief is raw, uncertainty looms large, and hope can feel painfully distant; and WHEREAS, since 2016, Ms. Gray has served as the supervisor over CJCC's Forensic Medical Examination and Forensic Interview programs, which ensure a compassionate and trauma-informed response for some of the State of Georgia's most vulnerable victims; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gray exemplifies what it means to serve with humility, with heart, and with an unshakable belief that government can be a source of support in people's darkest hours; and WHEREAS, she has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program, and her compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to others will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Ms. Shennill Gray for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ms. Shennill Gray.
