A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Morgan County boys basketball team for winning the 2026 GHSA Class
AA State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Morgan County boys basketball team has established and maintained a
proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball
competition, ending the season with a 20 game winning streak; and
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team
a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable
2026 campaign, the team captured its fourth state basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school and to Morgan County,
having several individual athletes earn prestigious awards and recognitions; and
WHEREAS, this all-star team included AA State Player of the Year, AA State Championship
MVP, AA All-State Selection, and Region 2-AA Player of the Year, Zeki Locus; AA
All-State Selection and Region 2-AA 1st Team Selection, Trey Carter; Region 2-AA 1st
Team Selections, Kobi Jefferies and Garrett Ward; Region 2-AA 2nd Team Selection, Jacoby
Simmons; as well as Region 2-AA Honorable Mention Selections, King Hardy and Dreylon
Brown; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the
team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach and
GHSA Class AA Coach of the Year Cody Anderson; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is
abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
the members of this body congratulate the Morgan County boys basketball team for winning
the 2026 GHSA Class AA State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for their
continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the
Morgan County boys basketball team.
